13. The estimated point at which you will convert to the new scales will be set out in Form A referred to in paragraph 5 above which I will send to you shortly. If the details in Form A are on subsequent verification found to be materially incorrect, you will be allowed to exercise a fresh option.
A hypothetical conversion table is set out below to illustrate the conversion rules in paragraphs 10 to 12 above:-

15. For illustration purposes a probation bar, efficiency bar and a promotion bar have been inserted in the hypothetical scale. The probationary periods recom- mended by the Salaries Commission differ in length in certain cases from those already prescribed by an officer's terms of service. Serving officers will be required to serve the period of probation agreed upon on their first appointment, and the probationary periods recommended by the Commission will be applied only to new entrants to the service.

At point (a) the officer on $520 will convert to $780 on 1st January, 1947, and will remain on $780 until 1st January, 1948, when he will proceed to $820. January will henceforth be his incremental date.
1st officer on $540 will also convert to $780 on 1st January, 1947, but will proceed to $820 on 1st July, 1947. will henceforth be his incremental date.

17. All officers converting at points between the efficiency bar on the new scale above $820 and the promotion bar above $980 will do so only if the Heads of their Departments certify them as fit to do so. they will remain at $820 on the new scale until they do Otherwise obtain a certificate of efficiency.
18. At point (b) the officer on $660 will convert to $900 on 1st January, 1947, and proceed to $940 on 1st January, 1948. The officer on $680 will also convert to $900 on 1st January, 1947, but will proceed to $940 on 1st September, 1947. The officer on $700 will convert to $900 on 1st January, 1947, and proceed to $940 on 1st May, 1947.
19. All officers converting over the promotion bar above $980 will do so only with Government's approval.
20. It will be noted that the maximum of the old scale is $840 and provided that Government approve the officers concerned converting over the promotion bar, they will convert according to the number of years served since attaining their maximum. An officer who reached the maximum of the hypothetical old scale on, say, 1st June,
